From German, “Time for Bread”. ZEIT FÜR BROT is a Germany established brand, which started its journey back in 2009 out of the desire to give bread the time and the respect it deserves. At that time, industrial bakeries popped up in Germany like mushrooms after the rain (or snow), offering fast and cheap baked goods. But the ZEIT team asked to stop for a moment – and slow things down. To create a place based on the reach bread-baking tradition, with a new spirit and contemporary approach – the “Zeitgeist” in German – in traditional, meticulous, and patient processes; from locating and grinding only organic flours, through the fermentation of the sourdough starter, the preparation of the dough itself, hand kneading, rising, baking – and eventually the one magical moment – when it is placed in the bakery’s display, waiting for you to pick it up, and dedicate your time to it.

On a mission to find the perfect balance point between conscious consumption and uncompromising taste, the team is working to create the ultimate symbiosis between the craft of bread making, with its long-living tradition, and taking conscientious and sustainable responsibility in everything they do. From using organic natural flours, coming from local suppliers as much as possible, to baking on-site, keeping transportation to minimum use, in glass-walled bakery space, allowing direct eye contact and a transparent relationship between the baker and the clientele. A space that was planned, designed and constructed to allow the employees all of the best conditions, so that they can carry their work with a sense of pride and satisfaction.
